Students were given their biographies today. After doing some pre-reading activities, including activating their prior knowledge about the subject and thinking about questions they might want answered. Students also had to find other students in class who had biographies that were similar to theirs. This task was harder than you might think. Biography choices range from Hatshepsut to Barack Obama and Eleanor of Aquitaine to Neil Armstrong.

Biographies should be completed by Tuesday, November 20th. The goal is for students to complete these before Thanksgiving break, so that they can enjoy their break, but if a student needs the extra time, I’m happy to work with him/her. Time spent reading their biographies is time that can and should be documented on their reading logs.
